July 2009:  Four Canadians competed at the 20th International Biology Olympiad, at Tsukuba University, in Abiraki prefecture Japan.  The challenging competition had 201 competitors from 56 countries.  The Canadian Team brought home 4 medals.  Clinton Wang (Toronto) won a silver medal; Geoff Osgood (Calgary), Steven Zhu (Vancouver), and Aaron Hakim (Mississauga) each won a Bronze medal.  They represented Canada very well completing the 4 practical tasks, and 2 theoretical tests with skill and excellence.  Well done.

Canada Captures Gold at IBO 2010

The Canadian team had its best results at the 21st Annual International Biology Olympiad this past July in Changwon, South Korea. Each member of the team of four came home with a medal:

Gold Medals:

Run Ze Cao, of Martingrove Collegiate

Melody Guan, University of Toronto Schools

Silver Medal:

Rex Xia, Northern Collegiate

Bronze Medal:

Qingda Hu, Ontario Science Centre School

In addition to the medals, Run Ze finished second in the entire competition...the best a Canadian has ever done.  Melody finished up seventh overall as well.  The team did very well, and our Korean hosts made sure the students got to see some of Korea and their hospitality.
